On the ways to your plate?

I hate for this to be my first photo post but this is a standing testimonial to the apathy shown towards animals in our our great nation where animals are worshiped at one end and treated like…well…animals on the other

Got this mail…thought I would put it here rather than forward it :)

Dear Friend,

Christmas 2006 we celebrated with 5000 children.

Christmas with Chysallis 2007 promises to be even more joyful – with 10,000 children being gifted.  There will be offsite and onsite parties with hundreds of volunteers coming in to make the event -one to be remembered for a lifetime.

Look at this poster(link) – and, you will experience the laughter and love – that is the spirit of Christmas.!

We need your support and help – all it takes is a little time to go out and buy gifts – each gift should not exceed the value of Rs.25/-.  For the children – these are tokens of our love for them.

We have already collected 1500 gifts – and, our volunteers in Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chandigarh are also on this campaign to gift children in these cities.  Remember our target is 10,000 gifts.

For our offsite parties are on:

December 7, 8, 9 & 15, 2007 – We need 100 volunteers for these parties.

You may send your contribution by cheque or transfer from bank to bank.

For sponsorship amounts by cheque:

Mine yet given

In my shame I closed my eyes
Looked inside for an open door
Saw a sly smile in the darkness
And no ground to tread

My escape gave no respite
And the darkness in the room
Lit up my inner one
For I lie awake eyes open

In my despair I heard a name
It was my mother’s voice
The name seemed alien
Yet it was mine

Her voice betrayed her love for me
And her face her concern
Yet she called the name with a pride
A pride I was searching in me

I saw my name again
It was in my love’s eyes
There it was alive
Waiting for a new lease

It was sad
For its abode was sad
Sad for me
Yet there was a faith

Faith in me
Faith in an unspoken promise
One of love and protection
Love that I was searching for around me

I heard a prayer pass by
On its way to the heavens above
Its was for me
And my friend’s it was

There was warmth in it
Filled with love for me
And faith in me
A faith I was looking for

Once again the darkness lifted
This time both
In my room and in my mind
First by a click of a switch
Second by something mine yet given to me
Pride, love and faith

Written after a personal disaster
